I think we worry when we feel we don’t have control of a situation. We might expect our selves to perform in a certain way, and if we fall short and worry how we look to others. Maybe we might lose something we need or want. (Job, House, Car) We are scared to lose a loved one and worry about there safety. Maybe our child is doing something new or going to a new school, and we worry about how they will get treated. Will they be excepted?
How does worry affect us?
It can make you physically ill. It affects your family.
Is worrying a sin?
Matthew 6:25
1 Peter 5:6-8
Yes, worry is a sin! It all comes down to trust. Do we trust the most powerful? Are we saying He can’t handle it? Or maybe He can handle it but He won’t because the outcome is in His will and not ours. Are we saying His will is not the best for us? That would mean the One that knows all doesn’t care for us. John 3:16 Matthew 6:26. His love for us goes beyond understanding. We can’t see the outcome but He can. Some things might play out hundreds of years from now for the best for His people.
I can’t help it. I’m just a worrier!
What if we said that about all sin! I can’t help being acholic; it’s in my DNA. I can’t help stealing it’s all I know. Somethings are harder to overcome for others. That’s not saying it’s imposable to overcome. None of us are perfect, we all fall short, and with God’s grace, we are forgiven of those shortcomings. Do we continue to sin just because we are forgiven? Romans 6: 1-6
Jesus, the rent comes on the first, could you take care of that? I’m going to take a nap, thanks.
The Bible is meant to practice in its fullness, not to take one verse out of context. You still need to work and provide for your family in every way that you can. 1 Timothy 5:8 You still need to prevent problems before they come. Proverbs 15:22
Don’t buy what you can’t afford. Luke 14:28 Things still need your attention; taking action is not worry( at least in this context). Worry is when you run out of action and still holding on (my definition.) Also, your activity should be filtered through the Bible and prayer.
Have I arrived?
No, I deal with this sin as well and many others! This is how I work on getting the log out of my eye. These post a lot of times are to help work out my thoughts and force me to back my options with the Word of God. This post is not directed to any person I know specifically, but, I see Christians act like worrying is what your suppose to do, as if there is something wrong with you if you don’t worry.
